Sand Springs Pool & Recreation Center - Day-use fee or pay-per-soak in Williamstown, MA (2026)
One of the only warm springs in New England, this nonprofit community pool delivers naturally heated water, lap lanes, and lawn games.

Sand Springs Pool & Recreation Center in Williamstown, Massachusetts is one of New England's only naturally warm-water swim destinations — a community-owned, summer-only outdoor pool fed by a constant 72°F mineral spring discovered in 1827 and operated as a public bathing facility since the 1820s. The water is naturally warm, not hot, but it's exceptional for a region where most natural springs run 50-55°F. The site includes a lap pool, a separate hot tub, lawn games, a snack bar, and a kid splash zone. Open Memorial Day through Labor Day; closed otherwise.
What to expect
Drive to Williamstown (in the northwest corner of Massachusetts, close to the Vermont border), pay $20 day pass, and you have the run of the pool, the hot tub, and the lawn. The pool is genuinely 72°F and feels almost-warm on a 90°F July day, refreshing-but-comfortable. Lap lanes, family swim area, snack bar with reasonable food. Pair with a Mass MoCA visit (15 minutes north in North Adams) or Williams College campus tour.
