Langford Hot Springs - Day-use fee or pay-per-soak in Big Bend National Park, TX (2026)
A stone-walled pool beside the Rio Grande offers views into Mexico and remnants of the 1900s Langford Bathhouse.

Langford Hot Springs is the only natural hot soak inside Big Bend National Park — a small 105°F mineral spring captured by a stone-walled pool right at the edge of the Rio Grande in the park's southeast corner, just upstream from the abandoned 1909 Langford Bathhouse foundation. The pool is 5 feet by 8 feet, holds maybe 6 people comfortably, and looks directly across the river into Mexico. The 0.7-mile walk from the small Hot Springs parking area is on a flat trail past the Langford store ruins. Free with park entry. Best in winter when desert temps are tolerable; summer afternoon heat makes the soak miserable.
What to expect
Drive to the Hot Springs Historic District in Big Bend (signs from the main road), park, and walk 0.7 miles down a flat dirt trail past the Langford store ruins to the river. Stone-walled pool right on the river bank. Soak with a view of Mexico. Outhouses at the trailhead but no facilities at the pool. Pack out everything. Strong river current — don't drift downstream. Closures occur after heavy rain when bacteria levels spike.
