El Dorado Hot Springs - Day-use fee or pay-per-soak in Tonopah, AZ (2026)
Quirky desert oasis west of Phoenix with palm-shaded cabanas, sand-floor soak decks, and night skies free of light pollution.

El Dorado Hot Springs is a rustic, deliberately-lo-fi Sonoran Desert soaking complex in Tonopah, Arizona — about an hour west of Phoenix on I-10, the kind of place where the dress code is 'something or nothing' and everyone parks beside their own private cabana. Six private outdoor cabanas with mineral tubs (rented hourly), a small communal pool, and a row of basic 'Desert Dog' overnight rooms make up the operation. The owners are open about preferring quirky regulars to full-service tourists; the place looks scrappy and is. Winter (October-April) is the only realistic season — summer afternoons crack 115°F.
What to expect
Drive in from I-10, check in at the small office, and you're shown to your private cabana — sand floor, thatch shade, a tub fed by 110°F spring water cooled with cold valves. Clothing is optional in the private cabanas (most regulars choose nothing). Bring cash for tips. The vibe is closer to a quirky desert commune than a resort. Don't expect spa polish; do expect dark night skies and a particular kind of regular crowd.
